Ryan Reynolds took his post to Instagram to share that he’ll be ‘stepping away for a little sabbatical’ after finished his part on his latest project Christmas-themed movie.
The actor noted in his post that he just wrapped work on the Apple TV+ movie Spirited. “Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago,” Reynolds wrote. “Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists. These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.”
Included in the Instagram post Indiana Jones 5 streaming were several photos of Reynolds with cast and crew members on the Christmas-themed film, which is co-directed by Sean Anders and John Morris.
In the comments section were numerous familiar names such as Ava DuVernay, Boss Logic, Octavia Spencer, and even Reynolds wife Blake Lively, who wrote, “Michael Caine did it first” — in reference to recent reports that the British actor will retire after his latest film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever streaming Best Sellers, though he confirmed in a statement on Saturday that this is not the case.
Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife, left a comment on the post, writing that “Michael Caine did it first.” The joke is a reference to recent rumors that the British veteran was retiring from acting, though Caine’s reps confirmed to Variety that the actor is currently reviewing scripts for two more projects.
However long Reynolds’ sabbatical turns out to be, the break is hardly unearned. The actor has already starred in two 2021 movies with “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” and “Free Guy,” and he has another on the way in Netflix’s “Red Notice,” a high-budget action movie in which Reynolds co-stars with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. Reynolds also served as a producer on “Free Guy” and is currently producing “Spirited.”
“Spirited” is billed as a reimagining of Charles Dickens’ story “A Christmas Carol.” Reynolds plays the Ebenezer Scrooge figure in the movie Encanto streaming. Apple has not set an official release date for the film yet.
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the current owners of the National League’s side Wrexham AFC, in the August of 2021 threatened to sue the Apple TV+ series over a joke. The Hollywood funnymen wanted Ted Lasso’s signature biscuits to be delivered to the team before the season opener in place of a lawsuit.
“Deadpool’s” Ryan Reynolds and “Mythic Quest’s” Rob McElhenney put ink to paper to express their “displeasure” at the joke made about their business venture. Leslie Higgins, played by Jeremy Swift, poked fun at the pair’s venture in the second season’s fifth episode Ghostbusters 3: Legacy streaming.
AFC Richmond’s affable Director of Communications expressed his confusion about purchasing the two actors’ Welsh football (soccer) team. Higgins couldn’t quite believe if the pair’s buying of the club was a joke or not.
Reynolds told People of the arrangement in 2019, “Blake and I don’t do movies at the same time. If she is doing a movie The Addams Family 2 streaming in Thailand and I am doing a movie in Vancouver we would just never see each other. We operate as a unit, and that works really well for us. The kids stay with us, and the family stays together, and that is where home is. So if we are in Spain or Utah or New York, as long as we are together, we’re home.”
