Ridley Scott Once Turned Down An Offer To Work On A Disney Movie

Seasoned director Ridley Scott admitted that he had turned down an offer to work on a Disney film because he was not interested. The film is said to be about a witch. Scott is known as one of the most prolific and influential directors. He has made a number of major films, such as Alien (1979), Black Hawk Down (2001), The Martian (2015), and most recently, House of Gucci (2021).

When interviewed by the Hollywood Reporter and released by Screen Rant some time ago, Ridley was asked about his chances of working on a Disney fantasy film after the company bought Fox in 2019.

“The older I get, the more I look for something that’s meaningful, not just entertainment, (and) it has to have an effect on someone,” Scott said. “They (Disney) wanted me to make witch movies, and I didn’t make movies about witches. That’s not a good idea,” he continued.

The film won many awards and nominations, and is predicted to compete in the Best Picture category at this year’s Oscars. Not only that, House of Gucci also earned revenues of up to US $ 120 million from a production budget of US $ 75 million. This figure makes this film successful in making a profit in the midst of the post-pandemic recovery period.
