Fans of “Planet of the Apes” can now breathe a sigh of relief. The reason is, a new film that will come in the Disney franchise and 20th Century Studios is being worked on, after a long time of no news.
A new sequel to the “Planet of the Apes” series from director Wes Ball in collaboration with screenwriter Josh Friedman, is said to be still in development and is set to begin shooting at the end of the year. This was stated by Steve Asbell, President of 20th Century Studios, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

In the interview, Asbell discusses many of the upcoming projects that audiences hope to see. “We hope the draft is finished soon, and Wes Ball is directly responsible for it. We hope to start in late summer, early fall,” he explained.
Although it doesn’t seem like much, this news gives fans great hope regarding the continuation of the series. As is well known, not much has been revealed about the film since February 2020 when Ball claimed the new film would not be a reboot.

After more than two years of silence, many fans are starting to wonder if a continuation of the series is really in the works. But now fans have learned that the film is still in active development and is planned to start shooting this year.
This new installment of “Planet of the Apes” will be the latest in one of the longest-running sci-fi franchises. The entire series emerged from Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel La Planète des singes (Planet of the Apes).

The 1968 original, directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and starring Charlton Heston, is an instant classic with film references still relevant in popular culture today. From there were born four direct sequel films and a short-lived live-action TV sequel series that premiered in 1974.
