Melissa Benoist Finally Agrees To Star In Girls on the Bus Serial

Melissa Benoist is reportedly close to a deal to star in Girls on the Bus, an HBO Max political drama series. Should the Supergirl cast join, she will be working with Warner Brothers and executive producer Greg Berlanti on the project.

As we all know, Benoist is famous for playing the role of Supergirl which was broadcast by CW. He portrayed the superhero for 126 episodes over six seasons from 2015 to 2021. He has also appeared in other CW superhero series such as The Flash, Arrow, Batwoman, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for significant crossover events.

Benoist is also known for his role as Marley Rose on the series Glee and has also appeared in feature films such as Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Whiplash, Patriots Day, and Danny Collins.

Girls on the Bus was inspired by the book by The New York Times Correspondent Amy Chozick entitled Chasing Hillary. The series itself is a comedy-drama that tells the story of four female journalists who follow every move of the presidential candidate parade while discovering feelings of friendship, love, and scandal along the way.

“While the source books are based on two of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaigns, the series will follow fictional characters and candidates.

Julie Plec and Chozick will serve as writers and executive producers on the series. In addition, Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden will also serve as executive producers through Berlanti Productions and Warner Brothers Television.

It’s surprising to see the series move so quickly after the last few years the project has been constantly switching networks or just being stuck in a “warehouse.”

Viewers have already witnessed Benoist’s abilities as a reporter on Supergirl, though it’s just a cover job and more action keeps him busy at other times. But now he was about to jump into something completely different; an opportunity that allowed him to practice his comedic skills and explore his reach as a performer.

With the right talent, Girls on the Bus appears to be setting itself up for success, though it will still be interesting to see who other journalists end up working with Benoist on this new series project.
