‘Kraven The Hunter’ Filming Will Be Completely On The Field, Without Green Screen Help

The use of a soundstage and a green screen to some extent is not uncommon in the blockbuster world. But apparently, it will not be used in the shooting process for Sony’s upcoming film “Kraven the Hunter”.

The reason is, the entire shooting process will be fully carried out on the shooting location. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who plays the eponymous Spider-Man villain, revealed this in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Taylor-Johnson also discussed the differences between Kraven’s filmmaking and his current film, “Bullet Train”. The film, starring Brad Pitt, was shot entirely on the sound stage. In particular, Taylor-Johnson notes how filming locations can affect acting.

According to him, taking pictures in the real world is very supportive to show the authenticity of the story. He is optimistic that the concept of shooting for “Kraven The Hunter” will bring something different.

“Shooting Kraven will be fully done on location will make all the difference. It will add something very beautiful to our personal story,” he said enthusiastically. “It also sets Kraven apart from Marvel’s stage presence. It’s important for these characters to be in the real world. It’s important to the authenticity of the story. When you’re running down the street barefoot, you’re taking those elements and playing into them.”

What Taylor-Johnson said seems to come from his own experience. He played Pietro Maximoff, the brother of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), in the Marvel sequel “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. It looks like Taylor-Johnson has had a different experience with her latest Marvel role outside of the MCU. Apart from Taylor-Johnson, this film will also star Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Kraven’s lover.

Christopher Abbott and Alessandro Nivola will play the villains of the film. Russell Crowe, who recently starred in “Thor: Love and Thunder”, will play Kraven’s father. “Kraven the Hunter” will hit theaters on January 13, 2023. The film is directed by J.C. Chandor.
