This week’s Korean box office saw the arrival of a new film that immediately topped the list, namely Spiral: From the Book of Saw. The presence of this film forced Minari out of the top five at the Korean box office this week.
Meanwhile, the film Don’t Breathe 2 still stays in the top five and makes it the second highest grossing film in South Korea with sales of more than 2 million tickets during 2021.

1. Spiral: From the Book of Saw
Spiral (also known as Spiral: From the Book of Saw) is a 2021 American horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. It is the ninth installment in the Saw film series. The film stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and follows police efforts to stop a Jigsaw copycat killer. The original creators of the series, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, as well as Rock and series veteran Kevin Greutert, serve as executive producers.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw tells the story of Detective Ezekiel Banks (Chris Rock) or better known as Zeke, working in the shadow of a highly respected police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson).
He feels and his new partner (Max Minghella) must be responsible for a gruesome investigation into a murder case.
Saw 9: Spiral film stream in its debut week, the film sold 88,035 tickets on 691 screens and grossed US$781.1 thousand.
2. Malignant
Malignant is a 2021 American horror film directed by James Wan from a screenplay by Akela Cooper, based on an original story by Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Cooper. It stars Annabelle Wallis, Maddie Hasson, George Young, and Michole Briana White.
In the film, Madison is paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, and her torment worsens as she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.
Malignant film stream managed to go up one place compared to last week with sales of 54,656 tickets from 596 screens which was equivalent to US $ 459.6 thousand. The film has raised $2.3 million since its release on April 28, 2021.
3. After We Fell
After We Fell is an upcoming romantic drama film directed by Castille Landon, based on the novel of the same name by Anna Todd. It is the sequel to 2020’s After We Collided. The film stars Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
Hardin Scott, played by Hero Finnes-Tiffin, will return with Tessa Young, played by Josephine Langford.
After 3’s sequel ‘After We Fell’ will tell the story of the romantic conflict between Hardin and Tessa who is now starting to become adults.
Now Tessa is about to make the biggest decision of her life.
Tessa and Hardin both finally reveal the secret they have kept all this time and instead makes both of them enter into doubts and make their future more difficult.
This week, After 3 streaming sold 48,363 tickets on 633 screens and earned US$410.8 thousand.
4. Don’t Breathe 2
Don’t Breathe 2 is a 2021 American horror-thriller film directed by Rodo Sayagues in his directorial debut, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fede Álvarez, the director of the first film, 2016’s Don’t Breathe. The sequel is produced by Álvarez, Sam Raimi, and Robert Tapert, and stars Stephen Lang, reprising his role as Norman Nordstrom / “The Blind Man”, with Brendan Sexton III and Madelyn Grace in supporting roles.
Eight years after the events of the first film, blind Navy Seal veteran Norman Nordstrom lives with 11-year-old Phoenix and his Rottweiler, Shadow, in a Detroit suburb. Norman tells Phoenix that her birth mother died in a fire in their old house.
Don’t Breathe 2 film stream, which has remained in the top five at the Korean box office for three months, earned US$382.9 thousand from sales of 44,117 tickets on 503 screens.
This figure brings their total revenue to US $ 17.1 million or equivalent to sales of 2,004,210 tickets.
5. Sound of Metal
Sound of Metal is a 2019 American drama film directed and co-written by Darius Marder. It stars Riz Ahmed as a metal drummer who loses his hearing, and also features Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff, and Mathieu Amalric.
Drummer Ruben performs in the heavy metal duo Blackgammon with his singer girlfriend Lou. They live in an RV and tour the United States performing gigs. When Ruben begins to lose his hearing, he goes to a pharmacy seeking a diagnosis. The pharmacist refers him to a doctor, who finds that Ruben has lost most of his hearing, and that the rest will deteriorate rapidly. Although cochlear implants may benefit him, their high cost is not covered by insurance. The doctor suggests that Ruben eliminate all exposure to loud noises and undergo further testing, but Ruben continues to perform.
The Sound of Metal film stream dropped four places after topping the Korean box office last week. This week, the film sold 42,006 tickets on 616 screens and earned US$331.2 thousand.
