Dwayne Johnson addresses the outcome of a fight between Black Adam and Superman, saying that it depends on who the actor is portraying Clark Kent. Dwayne Johnson weighs in on who he thinks would win in a fight between Black Adam and Superman, saying it depends on which actor is playing the other hero. After numerous delays, Black Adam is finally slated to release in theaters later this fall. The film, which is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, tells the story of how Johnson’s character was bestowed with the powers of ancient Egyptian gods nearly 5,000 years ago before eventually being set free into the modern world to unleash his own twisted form of justice.
Since Black Adam was first announced, Johnson has made no secret of the fact that he expects his character to disrupt the hierarchy of the DCEU. As more promotional material for the film continues to be released teasing Black Adam’s immense power, many fans have called for a showdown between Johnson’s character and Henry Cavill’s Superman. Both Johnson and a producer on the film have acknowledged this fan demand and expressed that they’re working behind the scenes to make this become a reality. Johnson himself has also teased that Superman might even show up in Black Adam.

Enough explanation from me and hopefully useful for all of us.
Black Adam is on the way after being in development for years, and the Dwayne Johnson-led superhero movie could have major implications for the DCEU. Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DCEU movie Black Adam could have some big ramifications for the whole DC franchise, including Superman. As his first major foray into superhero movies, Black Adam has been one of Johnson’s longest gestating projects, and he continues to drive a lot of hype for it. A brief teaser at 2020’s DC FanDome showcased the anti-hero in action, positioning the vengeful former slave from Kahndaq as the man to shift the power scales of DC, as Johnson has consistently teased. However, Black Adam’s release could go a lot further than simply introducing a new character, potentially even impacting on the future of Henry Cavill’s role as Superman.
Johnson has also teased other ramifications for introducing the character, especially as he has had his sights set on the movie’s title character going up against Henry Cavill’s Superman for several years. With both Black Adam and Superman being such powerful characters and Cavill having established his bankability outside of portraying the Kryptonian hero in Mission: Impossible – Fallout and The Witcher, it seems like too good an opportunity to pass up. Nonetheless, Cavill’s Superman future has had a lot of uncertainty after 2017’s Justice League disaster and the movie’s 2021 partial redemption, Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Cavill remains committed to continuing as Superman, frequently expressing his desire to channel the Man of Steel’s heroism in interviews, but so far, the green light for his return hasn’t been given yet. This is where Black Adam comes in. The success or failure of the movie could be the key to finally guaranteeing Cavill’s return, and the impact it could have on the DCEU could go significantly further still. Here’s how Black Adam might end up determining a great deal about the DCEU’s future.
Black Adam presentation during the Warner Bros. Theatrical panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Johnson has again addressed the possibility of a faceoff between his hero and Superman, discussing who he thinks would win. According to Johnson, it depends on who is playing Clark Kent/ Superman. Johnson, unfortunately, doesn’t elaborate on his statement, but his comment acknowledges the possibility that Cavill may not return as Superman again in the DCEU. Now, it’s possible that Johnson is just speaking more generally about Superman, acknowledging that the hero is currently being portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin on Superman & Lois, despite that show existing outside of the DCEU. However, the comment also comes amidst fan disappointment that the Warner Bros. SDCC panel didn’t feature an appearance from Cavill announcing his return as Superman. Cavill’s last appearance as Superman was in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and the actor’s future as the character has been up in the air ever since.
