Eternals is currently the lowest-rated Marvel movie

Eternals has been reviewed by several critics and is currently the lowest-rated Marvel film of all.

Eternals is reportedly getting worse ratings than Thor: Dark World, the film that previously held the record for the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score for an MCU film.

However, the rating may change as more critics see it. In Hungary itself, Eternals will be officially released on November 3, 2021.

Eternals Score on Rotten Tomatoes Is Lowest in MCU History

The positive reviews that appeared at the beginning of the premiere of Eternals did not guarantee this film would perform well on Rotten Tomatoes. On the site that provides film scores based on the opinion of critics, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film gets the lowest score in the history of the Marvel film franchise. Eternals only got a score of 61% from 108 reviews from critics.

This figure clearly breaks the MCU tradition. So far, the MCU always gets a good score on Rotten Tomatoes for every new film. However, the number of negative comments or reviews against Eternals seems to affect the score of the film made by Chloe Zhao on the site.

Previously, Eternals had also been the subject of negative comments on IMDb. Many reviewers criticized the existence of a same-sex love affair in the film. They also criticized woke culture which seemed forced into the film.

Over the past 12 years, the MCU has usually had a perfect record on Roten Tomatoes. Each of their films get a “Fresh” rating. All but two of the films were willing to get a more impressive rating of Certified Fresh from reviewers. This includes every film since Thor: The Dark World that is considered the MCU’s worst film.

Citing Screen Rant, of the 25 films that the MCU has released before Eternals, the MCU has a total of 9,470 reviews compiled on Rotten Tomatoes. Of that number, 8,098 reviews are in the “fresh” category and 1,372 others are in the “rotten” category. This earned the MCU an average of 85% with an actual review score of 7.23 out of 10.

As of this writing, Eternals has received 108 reviews from critics, it still takes another 292 reviews to get a total average. There are no reviews from viewers yet. But, from this figure, this film has got a score of 61% with an average of 6.0 out of 10.

This figure is clearly lower than the 2 MCU films which are considered the worst of all time. The films are Thor: The Dark World with a score of 66% and The Incredible Hulk with 67%. This also makes Eternals well below the MCU Tomatometer average of 85%.

Getting a rating of 6.0 out of 10 also makes Eternals get an average review score. This figure is well below the 7.23 average. Previously, this record was held by Thor: The Dark World and The Incredible Hulk, both of which stood at 6.2.

Changing the average review score of 6.0 from 10 to presentation so that it can be compared with Tomatometer reveals that the 61% Eternals score on Rotten Tomatoes is only 1 point higher than the 60% average review score. This means the lower reviews for Eternals tend to be the result of a genuinely less enthusiastic response compared to responses to other films in the MCU. Throughout its history, the MCU has never had a film with an average review score above its Tomatometer score. But, Eternals’ current score is the closest for an MCU film to change that ratio.
