Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that one of his newborn twins has passed away.
Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, said they were expecting twins at the end of October 2021.
The 37-year-old said on Easter Monday “our baby boy has passed away” in a post on social media, while confirming the birth of his baby girl.
“It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” Ronaldo’s post added.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live in this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.
“We are all devastated at this loss, and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Manchester United offered their support for Ronaldo in a post on Twitter on Monday evening.
The club statement read: “Your pain is our pain, Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
The soccer community gathered to offer their condolences to the couple. Manchester United is one of the quick to give condolences to the club’s top scorer this season. “Your pain is our pain, @cristiano,” tweeted the official Man United account.
“We send love and strength to you and your family at this time.”
“All thoughts and condolences from everyone in the Premier League to you and your family, Cristiano,” tweeted the official Premier League account. Ronaldo and Georgina first announced that they would have twins on October 28, 2021. Through uploads on Instagram, they showed the results of an ultrasound inside Georgina’s womb. “Happy to announce that we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love, we can’t wait to meet you,” wrote Georgina at the time.
Ronaldo and Georgina have been in a relationship since 2016. Georgina has also formed bonds with CR7’s previous children, namely Cristiano Jr and twins Eva Maria and Mateo Georgina herself already has a daughter from her relationship with Ronaldo, namely Alana Martina before getting pregnant again last year.
