Affected by COVID-19 Director Matt Reeves Cancels Attending The Batman Premiere At Lincoln Center, New York

Director Matt Reeves missed the premiere of  The Batman (2022)  at Lincoln Center, New York, USA, on Tuesday (1/3) evening. This is because the director is positive for Covid-19. In the world premiere which was attended by a range of actors, such as Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, Reeves said that he had to be absent from the event because he was exposed to the corona virus.

Reeves said he was sad because he couldn’t attend the celebration of his own film. Moreover, The Batman also had a delay in the broadcast date due to the pandemic that hit.

“We went around promoting films and doing media tours. Despite having two vaccines and getting boosters, I [still] got Covid,” Reeves said in a video call, as quoted by Variety, Tuesday (1/3) local time.

“It’s a huge heartbreak because this film means so much to me. It’s been a five-year journey for me and I’m so excited to share it with you tonight.”
In the video that was shown before the screening of the film, Matt Reeves also reported on his current health condition. He said that he is currently in good condition. He also thanked the crew of The Batman who had put in a lot of effort in working on the film. Reeves even called them the best crew he’s ever worked with.

The Batman is Matt Reeves’ directorial debut for the DC character. He replaced Ben Affleck who resigned from the director’s chair. This film will also start the era of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, who also replaced Affleck after he decided to stop playing the Caped Crusader. Gotham villains such as The Riddler (Paul Dano) to Penguin (Colin Farrell) are confirmed to be present in this film.

In carrying out his mission, Batman gets help from Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright), Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis) and also the presence of Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz). Matt Reeves Confirms Discussing The Batman 2 Pattinson’s version of The Batman will follow Bruce Wayne’s second year as a Gotham City crime hunter. The story that is lifted is also not in the same universe as the DCEU, and will focus more on the detective side of Batman.
