A number of new films are showing this week in cinemas and legal streaming services in Indonesia. The fourth film in The Matrix franchise, titled The Matrix Resurrections, is showing in theaters and can be a viewing option on weekends.The prequel film The King’s Man can also be enjoyed by film lovers this week.
Meanwhile, fans of Leonardo DiCaprio can watch the actor’s appearance through the new film Don’t Look Up. The following are recommendations for weekend movies that can be watched in cinemas and streaming services
1. The Matrix Resurrections
The Matrix Resurrections contains a continuation of Neo’s adventures in the Matrix world. Set 18 years after the last film, The Matrix Revolutions (2003), Thomas Anderson aka Neo (Keanu Reeves) is a famous game maker.
One day, Neo sees an intruder while playing a game and tries to stop him. But he is blocked by his business partner, Smith (Jonathan Groff).
This film returns to feature actors and characters from previous films, such as Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity/Tiffany and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe.
The film also features a new character, the Analyst, played by Neil Patrick Harris. He is an analyst who gives Neo the blue and red pills. Films for adults can now be seen in theaters.
2. The Kings Man
The King’s Man is a prequel to two previous stories, Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).
Overall this film tells the story of a party who plans a war to eliminate millions of people. It was then that a private intelligence agency named Kingsman was formed.
The King’s Man is the ambition of Director Matthew Vaughn who is determined to develop the Kingsman franchise. One of them tells how espionage has changed over time.
Just like the two previous Kingsman films, The King’s Man also shows the Kingsman Tailor Shop in London which serves as the organization’s headquarters and armory.
This film tells the story of 14 Indian men who overcome all odds to win the sport of cricket. Their victory puts India into the biggest cricket nation in the world.
This sports film is directed by Kabir Khan who also worked on The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye (2020), Phantom (2015), Kabul Express (2006), The Forgotten Army (1999), and Beyond the Himalayas (1996).
The film stars a number of Bollywood stars, including Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, and Pankaj Tripathi.
4. Don’t Look Up
Don’t Look Up will follow the story of two astronomers taking a media tour to warn humanity of an impending and potentially Earth-shattering asteroid. They are Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his student, Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence).
Until finally the tour takes them to the office of President Orlean (Meryl Streep), who is known to be indifferent. They also meet Orlean’s son and Presidential Chief of Staff Jason (Jonah Hill) who likes to make faces.
Apart from Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, the film Don’t Look Up also stars a number of other well-known actors such as Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande and Scott Mecudi (Kid Cudi).
